Beaubois contributed to refashioning the Ritz-Carlton, Chicago
It required an investment of $100 M and nearly 18 months of work to complete the greatest transformation in the history of the Ritz-Carlton, Chicago, the premier deluxe hotel in the Windy City.
Close attention to detail, one of Beauboisʹ strengths, was essential because, due to the age of the building, variations in measurements occurred frequently. Another, rather unusual, constraint faced was the small size of the old elevators, which complicated the design and installation of furnishings and architectural millwork elements.
The Beaubois team contributed to the interior of the public areas, including the ballroom, a bar clad in copper panels by the team, a café whose central piece of furniture is formed of brass and wrapped in walnut, and the washrooms where brilliance and brass complement each other perfectly. The firm also crafted the furniture in the spa reception area and the walnut cabinets in the rooms.
Although refashioned, the Ritz-Carlton, with its 434 spacious guest rooms, maintains its status as a Chicago icon, elegantly taking its place in the modern cityscape.
