The Drexel University – a remarkable institution
The Drexel University campus now boasts a new building for its LeBow College of Business. The 12-storey building covers 177,700 sq. ft. and is constructed around a six-storey atrium. The Beaubois team crafted impressive wall panels and a staircase for the atrium, as well as wall panels and window frames for the offices that overlook the vast atrium.
Beaubois also produced and installed acoustic wall panels, counters, cupboards and vanities for four classrooms in the new building, as well as moldings and chair rails to encircle the 100-seat auditorium. The white oak selected for this project presented its own set of challenges, and the Beaubois team worked diligently to ensure a uniformity of color by meticulously placing the veneer and hardwood inserted into the acoustic panels.
The ultra-modern building meets the university administration’s environmental expectations and complies with the requirements of the Global Green sustainable development management system. Equipped with a green roof and exterior light collectors, it is an innovative construction that reflects the values of the university.
This $92-M project includes five centers: the Center for Corporate Governance, the Dana and David Dornsife Office for Experiential Learning, the Center for Corporate Reputation Management, the Strategic Leadership Centre and Baiada Institute for Entrepreneurship. The ambitious project was made possible due to a $45-M donation from Bennett S. LeBow. This is the largest monetary contribution the university has received since its founding in 1891. The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania provided the rest of the funding.
