The Mecklenburg County Courthouse – a unique and distinguished facility
Beaubois provided architectural woodwork for the new Mecklenburg County Courthouse in Charlotte, North Carolina. The triangular building, featuring 34 octagonal courtrooms over seven floors, was a significant improvement over the previous facilities, in which courtrooms were spread over four different buildings.
The Family Court’s rooms, all located on the first floor of the building, were designed to be adapted to specific cases being heard there. Some hold more tables for a growing number of participants; others feature a lower judge’s bench to appear less intimidating to children.
With great attention to detail, the Beaubois team produced custom-made furnishings for the unique building. From judges’ chambers, attorney tables and jury benches, to public seating, wall panels, doors, and frames, each element crafted by the Beaubois team adds to the distinguished overall appearance of the new facility. By readily adapting to client requests, the team contributed to the success of the project as a whole.
