St. Regis Chicago — sweeping lines and bold design stand out on the Chicago skyline
With dramatic views, a glass and concrete exterior, curated interiors, a five-star, deluxe hotel and spa, as well as ultra-luxurious residences and 360-degree penthouses, the St. Regis Chicago provides an unforgettable experience. This soaring masterpiece was designed by internationally acclaimed architect Jeanne Gang and facilities are made up of three extremely narrow vertical volumes of 100, 75, and 50 stories. At 365 metres (1200 feet), the highest of the three is now Chicago’s third-tallest building and the tallest structure in the world designed by a woman.
In the residential tower, the Beaubois team provided high-end millwork in the main lobby, in the elevator lobbies on all 92 floors, and in public spaces on the 10th and 47th floors.
Work in the reception area included floor-to-ceiling mahogany panelling and casings with a custom finish selected by the architect, an elegant quartz and mahogany reception desk, a valet stand with engraved building name and stone exterior, and a unique, custom wood doorframe, that juts beyond the doorway and over the sidewalk, for a striking effect.
On the 47th floor, which hosts a fitness room, pool room, event room and more, the Beaubois team installed a wall featuring mirrors and metal inserts, as well as panelling made from TABU veneer, white oak, European oak and walnut. In the golf lounge, the team welded a modern and intricate stainless-steel curtain. In an event room, an accent wall featuring stone and fabric was also installed, requiring a close collaboration between Beaubois and the stone provider. For events, Beaubois also built a classic bar and back bar that showcase black stone and brass.
On the 10th floor, Beaubois built lockers, using veneer panels and solid wood that the team stained to match the exact colour of the pre-finished veneer. In elevator lobbies on all 92 floors, Beaubois installed panelling made from mahogany and mirrors, matching the elegant aesthetic of the building’s main reception.
